No. 3 Penn State Defeats No. 10 Minnesota in Volleyball
The third-ranked Penn State women’s volleyball team defeated No. 10 Minnesota 3-1 last night in Happy Valley. With the win, the Lions improve to 12-1 in Big Ten play; their only BIG 10 loss to a tough Nebraska team.
Penn State’s Micha Hancock, a sophomore from Edomond, OK, proved herself at the service line tying her career high seven aces. Junior Ariel Scott posted 20 kills, followed by Junior Katie Slay with 11. Hancock’s strong offensive play was displayed with 46 assists and 15 digs. Sophomore Dominique Gonzales led the team with 20 digs while junior Deja McClendon followed with 17 digs and an impressive three blocks.
A White Out has been declared for the Penn State women’s volleyball team this Sunday, Nov 4, when they host Wisconsin at 2pm in Rec Hall. All fans are encouraged to come with canned goods that will be donated to the Central Pennsylvania food bank. The match will air live on ESPN2.
