No. 13 M. Volleyball Achieves title of EIVA Champion, W. Golf Compete at Big Ten Championship
It was yet another exciting weekend for Penn State spring sports, with special emphasis placed on the No. 13 M. Volleyball team capturing a league title. Check it out!

- 13 M. Volleyball captured its 30th EIVA Championship title this weekend, defeating Saint Francis University 3-0. After defeating SFU by a hefty margin in the first two games, the third game proved to be a nail biter in which the Lions were able to persevere and come out victorious. Luke Braswell (Manchester, Pa.) led the team with 33 assists, while Royce Clemens (York, Pa.) led with 10 digs. Chris Nugent (Fair Lawn, N.J.) and Aidan Albrecht (Old Bridge, N.J.) each added nine kills to the epic win. Next week, on May 4, the team will travel to Columbus, Ohio to compete in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
- Men’s Tennis faced some difficulty on the road as the team traveled to Illinois for a Big Ten conference game. Although the Lions fell 4-0 to the Fighting Illini, head coach Jeff Zinn is confident in his team’s abilities late in the season. “Playing at Illinois is never easy, they have a great fan base,” said Zinn. “The score line might read 4-0 but we were very much in that match!” The team faces Northwestern on Sunday, followed by entrance to the Big Ten Championship in Indiana on Thursday.
- Men’s Gymnastics saw tremendous success at the NCAA National Championships in West Point, N.Y. this past weekend. Freshman Stephen Nedoroscik (Worcester, Mass.) claimed the top spot for his pommel horse routine. Nedoroscik is only the 10th Nittany Lion to ever capture this title, and the first to do so in 12 years.
- Softball had a successful series against Rutgers, defeating the Scarlet Knights 7-0. The Blue and White recorded 10 hits while allowing just five by Rutgers. Shelby Miller (Sugar Land, Texas) and Jessica Haug (Jamison, Pa.) scored the final two RBI’s of the game to lock in the shutout. Junior Jessica Cummings (Owings, Md.) pitched the entirety of the game.
- Women’s Tennis locked in a win against Purdue, 5-2, at home this past weekend. Katia Blik (Moscow, Russia), Samantha Smith (Cary, N.C.), and Shannon Hanley (Kensignton, Md.) all won their singles matches.
